TETHER

Beginning in early February of 2026.
A couple of studies and small works on paper, a thought process began to evolve. It wasn’t a conscious effort to start a new series of works, yet this is where things are going.
Tether is all about the word. Many philosophical and spiritual traditions use the tether to describe the souls relationship with the material realm.
In my concept I see it as a strand, often fragile and arbitrary that connects everything within a system, universe or society. Depending on actions and reactions the tether can become stronger or weaken.
In these first images I have used the figure as a centralized subject. It can be animal, human or a combination of both.
My aim is to not work with a predetermined outcome but rather allow the subject to create itself, with tether as a guidepost, as it is as much about the word itself as it is the definition.
